Chantelle was living in a children’s home. The home was a long way from where she had lived before, but Chantelle was very happy there and was doing well at the local school. The local council decided that Chantelle should move to another children’s home. She was told that she was going to move only one week before the move was due to happen. Chantelle was extremely unhappy about the move and rang the Children’s Legal Centre.

We told her that the local council were under a duty to consult with her (to ask her what she wanted), and the fact they did not do this was against the law. If you are in a similar situation call the Child Law Advice Line on 08088 020 008 to speak to an advisor.
